Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 1, 2026. Effective: January 1, 2026.
At SnapSkill, your privacy is not a footnote — it's a foundational principle. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding your information. We aim to be transparent and use plain language throughout.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, information generated by your use of the service, and information from third parties.
Information you provide: Account registration data (name, email, password), billing information (processed by Stripe — we never store card numbers), profile information, course content if you are a creator, and communications you send us.
Usage data: Pages visited, features used, lessons completed, quiz scores, time spent, device type, browser, IP address, and referring URLs.
Third-party data: If you sign in with Google or a social provider, we receive basic profile information. We receive payment event data from Stripe for billing purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: provide and improve the SnapSkill service, personalize your learning experience through our AI systems, process payments and manage subscriptions, send transactional emails (receipts, password resets, lesson reminders), provide customer support, detect and prevent fraud or abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data to train AI models without your explicit consent.
3. Data Sharing
We share data only in limited circumstances: with service providers who help us operate the platform (Supabase for hosting, Stripe for payments, Resend for email, Vercel for infrastructure), with your consent (for example, if you connect a third-party app), to comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests from law enforcement, and to protect the rights and safety of SnapSkill, our users, or the public.
All service providers are contractually bound to handle your data securely and only as instructed.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (for example, billing records for tax compliance, typically 7 years).
Course content created by creators is retained for 90 days after account deletion to allow for dispute resolution.
5. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on your location, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten"), request portability of your data, object to or restrict certain processing, and opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data).
To exercise these rights, email privacy@snapskill.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
6. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, analyze usage patterns, and deliver relevant content. You can control cookies through your browser settings. See our Cookie Policy for full details.
7. Children's Privacy
SnapSkill's main service is intended for users 13 and older. Our Kids Mode is designed for children under 13 and is operated in compliance with COPPA. We collect only the minimum data necessary for Kids Mode users and require verifiable parental consent before creating a child profile. Parents may review, edit, or delete their child's data at any time from the Parent Dashboard.
